Metro Girls Hockey: Tiering Round Complete/Regular Season Underway
Action Update
The first half of the Metro Girls High School league season is finally complete with the tiering round decided. Competing in the Scholastic Cup will be New Trier Varsity, Fenwick, Loyola, Glenbrook, Naper Valley and Maine. The Founders Cup will include Lake Forest High School, Barrington, Chicago Central, Evanston, Lake Forest Academy and the Grizzlies.
The second half of the season is set to kick off with teams in both divisions battling for a top position to advance to the league playoffs that wraps the Metro season. Some stats from the conclusion of the tiering round include:
• Top schools: New Trier Varsity (the only undefeated team with 5 wins), Fenwick, Glenbrook, Naper Valley and Maine (3 wins)
• Top scorers include Cassidy Cha (Glenbrook; 12 points); Isabella Gratzl (Barrington; 8 points); Amelia Arquillano (Chicago Central), Alexis Bornhoeft (New Trier), Annie Chen (Chicago Central) and Carla McSweeney (Chicago Central) all with 7 points
• Top goaltenders include Sophie Solomon (Barrington; save percentage 100), Emma Rychley (Fenwick, save percentage 98), Quinn Kelly (Loyola; save percentage 97), Sophie LeClair (Maine; save percentage 93), and Casey Stockbridge (Glenbrook; save percentage 90)
Games in the regular season will commence shortly. The teams are coming together nicely, and the girls enjoyed facing off against friends that they team up with on other teams!
