Metro League Girls Enjoy the Wolves All-Star Faceoff and Skills Challenge
Girls from across all the teams that participate in the Metro Girls High School Hockey League came together on December 28 to participate in the second annual Metro Girls All-Star Faceoff. The event was held at the Allstate Arena and was hosted by the Chicago Wolves.
The girls were placed on one of two teams, Navy and Silver. The Navy team included players from Glenbrook, Grizzlies, Lake Forest High School, Loyola, Maine and New Trier, and the Silver team consisted of players from Barrington, Chicago Central, Evanston, Fenwick, Lake Forest Academy and Naper Valley.
The game was very evenly matched, and the first period ended with no score. In the second period the Silver team scored twice. The first goal was scored by Abi Carr (Barrington) on a pass from Brynn Clair (Evanston) and Adriana Fernandez (Lake Forest Academy). Amelia Arquillano (Chicago Central) notched the second goal on a sweet pass from Patty Braudy (Chicago Central).
The Silver team added two more goals in the third period and the game ended with the score of 4-0. The third goal of the game was scored by Kaitlyn Dill (Fenwick) on a pass from Arquillano and the final goal was credited to Maggie Thompson (Naper Valley) from Lauren Deutsch (Naper Valley) and Kiera Hogarth (Chicago Central).
All the goalies looked great in net and played hard. The MVPs of the game were Amelia Arquillano (Chicago Central) for Team Silver and Abigail Piatigorsky (Loyola) for Team Navy.
Later that evening, during the first and second intermission of the Wolves game, various players participated in a relay race and shoot-out. Team Navy won the relay race, and the shoot-out ended in a 1-1 tie.
A wonderful time was had by all! Thanks to the Wolves for hosting such a terrific event for the Metro League girls.
